On June 20, 2013, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a residential burglary in the 100 block of Oceanwayside Lane in Yachats, Oregon. Deputies responded to the scene and determined someone had forced entry to the residence by breaking a door to the garage. The home owner reported more than $12,000 of property had been taken from the location.
Robert Deyoe Mills Jr, 41, of Florence, was identified as a suspect early in the investigation as a neighbor had reportedly seen him walking around the residence and acting suspiciously.
On July 18, 2013, Lane County Sheriff's Deputies and Florence Police located Mills at a camp site illegally set up on private property in a remote area of northern Lane County. During this contact, deputies located a large amount of property that was believed to be stolen. Some of the recovered property was later determined to have been taken from the residence on Oceanwayside Lane in Yachats.
On July 30, 2013, a Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy located Mills on a traffic stop north of Florence. Mills was arrested for Burglary I and Theft I. Mills was also arrested for a warrant charging him with an unrelated theft in Lane County.
Mills was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail with a total bail of $150,700.
The Florence Police Department and the Lane County Sheriff's Office are assisting with this investigation. the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.
