On May 31, 2012 at 2:30 pm the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Siletz Rural Fire Department and PacWest Ambulance were dispatched to a reported ATV accident on private property near Logsden, Oregon. The operator, James Smith, age 76 of Logsden was pronounced deceased at the scene.
It is unclear exactly how the accident occurred, but family members reported Mr. Smith was using the ATV to tow logs down a logging road. At some point the ATV rolled, trapping Mr. Smith underneath. Family members were the ones who located the crash about 15 minutes after he was last scene and called for assistance.
