Incident: Log Truck Crash
Date Occurred: May 29, 2012
Time Occurred: Approximately 12:48 pm
Location: Bayview Road Mile post 1.5

Summary:

On May 29, 2012, at 12:48 PM, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy David Boys was dispatched to a single vehicle log truck crash on N. Bayview Rd. near milepost 1.5, Seal Rock, OR. Personnel from Seal Rock Fire and Rescue responded to the scene to assist with traffic control as the north bound lane was reportedly blocked.

Investigation at the scene revealed a 2005 Kenworth loaded log truck was traveling westbound on N. Bayview Rd. toward Highway 101, which is near Waldport. The truck began to negotiate a curve when it lost control and went off the north shoulder. As a result of the crash, the loaded logs broke securing cables and went off the shoulder embankment.

The truck's driver, identified as 59 year-old Tommy Junior Monk of Waldport, was not injured in the crash and the highway was later opened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
