Summary:
On March 21, 2012 at approximately 1:48 PM, Deputy Barry Bruster of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to a structure fire on Camp One Rd, just northeast of Yachats, OR. Upon arrival Deputy Bruster discovered a 5th wheel trailer fully engulfed in flames and smoke being emitted from the eaves of a residential structure sitting approximately 15 feet from the 5th wheel trailer.
Immediately upon arriving, Deputy Bruster was contacted by a man who identified himself as William Leon Allison, 48 years of age, from Yachats, OR. Allison told Deputy Bruster that he owned the property, the 5th wheel trailer and the residence, but had no insurance on the residence. Allison told Deputy Bruster that he did not know how the fires got started. During a phone call to Allison's wife, Deputy Bruster was told that all of her personal belongings were inside the residence.
After the fire was extinquished by Yachats, Central Coast, and Seal Rock Fire personnel, Deputy Bruster entered the residence and initiated an investigation which was continued by fire personnel and the Deputy State Fire Marshal.
The investigation later determined that William Allison was upset with his wife and intentionally burned the property.
Due to the burned properties being jointly owned by Allison and his wife, the initial report was forwarded to the Lincoln County District Attorney's Office for review and recommendation. On April 1, 2012, William Leon Allison was contacted at another residence in Yachats, where he was arrested for Arson I, Arson II, Reckless Burning , and Criminal Mishchief II. Allison was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged on $330,000.00 bail.
