Incident: Child Injured by Dog Bite
Date Occurred: March 29, 2012
Time Occurred: Approximately 3:55 pm
Location: 400 Block of E. Evans Drive, Tidewater, Oregon

Summary:

On March 29, 2012 at approximately 3:55pm, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies and Central Oregon Coast Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a residence in the 400 block of E. Evans Drive in Tidewater, Oregon on a report of an injury to a small child from a dog attack. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 3 year old child had sustained a non-life threatening facial injury from a dog bite caused by a family member's pet at the child's home. Central Oregon Coast Fire and Rescue personnel transported the child to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport where he received medical care.

The dog, a nine year old Labrador-Pit Bull mix was determined to be a pet of the family who resides in the home. It was learned the injured child and his mother had recently moved into the home with the dog owners who were not at the location at the time of the incident.

The bite reportedly occurred in the fenced back yard of the residence while the child's mother was inside the home. Following the attack, the dog was secured at the residence and has been quarantined per normal protocols for dog bite investigations.

No criminal action taken at this time.
