On February 10, 2012, while patrolling the Harlan area of east Lincoln County, Deputy Gary Davey with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office received information on illegal harvesting of truffles on private property. At about 12:40 PM that date, Deputy Davey made contact with 47 year old Robert Dickinson of Portland, 32 year-old Jason Pyatt of Monmouth, and 32 year-old Christian Lange, also of Monmouth. Deputy Davey determined that the three men were illegally harvesting Oregon Black Truffles on private timber property without permits. Dickinson, Pyatt and Lange were all issued citations for the Cutting/Transporting of A Minor Timber Product Without A Permit. Seized at the scene was almost one pound of truffles.
