On 10/14/11, Inmate Martin Hilgardner, age 26 of Rose Lodge, OR caused disruptions with facility operations throughout the jail by flooding and interfering with hourly inmate welfare checks (IWC's) by covering his door window with wet toilet paper. Deputies attempted multiple times to speak with Mr. Hilgardner to get him to comply with the orders of uncovering his window. He did not comply with any of the deputies orders.
Deputies through multiple attempts of communication ended up using OC spray and a taser. When deputies entered the cell of Mr. Hilgardner he took a fighting stance and charged at a deputy. During the altercation a deputy was injured and received medical care at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital.
Mr. Hilgardner was already lodged here at the Lincoln County Jail on charges of Criminial Mischief I and a Parole Violation. Mr. Hilgardner is now charged with Assault on a Public Safety Officer, where he is being held with a bail of $50,000.
