Location: 100 block of Sunnyview Ln in Depoe Bay


Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies, assisted by Oregon State Police and the Lincoln City Police, responded to the 100 block of Sunnyview Ln in Depoe Bay after Kenneth Lyle Ames, age 45 of Depoe Bay, called 911 and reported he had accidentally shot his wife in the head. The victim of the shooting was conscious and talking at the scene and reported the shooting was accidental. She was transported via ambulance with a single gunshot to her head from a small caliber bullet, but later transported via Reach helicopter to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. The investigation revealed Mr. Ames was intoxicated at the time of the shooting and the discharge was not intentional.

No arrest has been made at this time. Further investigation is being conducted by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division.


Lovena Terry, age 47 of Depoe Bay, is the victim of the shooting.  She suffered a single gunshot to the head from a .22 caliber handgun.  Terry is still hospitalized at the Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland where she is receiving medical care for a non-life threatening injury.  Once the investigation is complete, the case will be submitted to the Lincoln County District Attorney's Office where a charging decision will be made in regards to Kenneth Ames.
