On July 9, 2011 Deputy Gary Davey with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Sgt. Todd Thompson with the Oregon State Police responded to the report of a large group of people who had trespassed on Camp Westwind's property, located North of Lincoln City on the Salmon River. During the course of the investigation it was determined the group had entered onto Camp Westwind's property, which is clearly posted with "No Trespassing" signs, to gain access to a cove along the beach. Camp Westwind is a camp/education center for youth groups and the security of the camp is paramount.
Between July 24th and August 2nd the Portland Police Bureau assisted the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office with serving citations for Criminal trespass in the second degree to twelve members of the group, all adults from the Portland Metro area. Two other members of the group have not yet been cited, but will be as soon as they are located.
