On July 4, 2011 at about 8:00 PM Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Sorby attempted to stop a dirt bike near the intersection of W Highway 20 and Clark Loop in Toledo. The rider, Grayson Wolf Spencer, 34, of Toledo failed to yield to the deputy and traveled eastbound on Hwy 20 at a high rate of speed. After pursuing Spencer for several miles, he lost control of the motorcycle while on the shoulder of the road and crashed near MP 8 on Highway 20. Spencer fled on foot but was detained a short time later by Oregon State Trooper McKay near Pioneer Trail Road. Spencer was taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. Spencer was charged with Felony Attempt to Elude, Misdemeanor Elude, Reckless Driving and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. Spencer was also cited for driving while suspended and speeding. Spencer’s bail was set at $95,000.00. The Toledo Police Department and Oregon State Police assisted in the pursuit.
