Summary:
On April 23, 2011 at about 11:00pm, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy Clifton Cox was patrolling Highway 101 near the area of Milepost 136 north of Newport, Oregon. While traveling southbound, Deputy Cox observed a silver 2002 Toyota Camry passenger car traveling north bound at nearly 100MPH. Deputy Cox activated his emergency lights and radioed the information to LINCOM dispatch. Deputy Cox initiated pursuit as the vehicle continued north bound on Highway 101 passing vehicle traffic of both directions, at times in the center of the highway between vehicles in no passing zones and failing to yield to the Deputy's emergency vehicle. The vehicle was stopped near the top of Cape Foul Weather near Milepost 132.5. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Joseph Guy Bradley, 25 of Layton, Utah, was detained. Following the investigation, Bradley was arrested for Reckless Driving and Attempt to Elude Felony. He was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was booked and lodged on $65,000 bail.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact Deputy Cox at 541-265-4277 ext. 7109.
