On April 13, 2011 at approximately 6:25pm, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy David Boys was dispatched to a domestic disturbance that occurred at a residence in the 5700 block of the Salmon River Highwaty in Rose Lodge, Oregon. An adult female call 911 to report that she was physically assaulted at the location by her boyfriend, 30 year old Rose Lodge Resident James Carroll Woodward. The female reported that Woodward left the area by foot, however he was being followed by her son, who was a minor.

The deputy responded to the area and located Woodward walking east bound on the Salmon River Highway with the victim's son following behind him. The deputy contacted Woodward and detained him on suspicion of domestic assault. The juvenile male was contacted and provided a transport home.

Deputy Boys, who was assisted by an Oregon State Trooper, conducted an investigation of this incident. The deputy received information that Woodward had physically assaulted his girlfriend, in the presence of her minor child, and then interfered with her attempts to call police.
