Summary:
On January 26, 2011, at approximately 9:01 pm, a Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on NE East Devil's Lake Rd in Otis. When the deputy arrived on scene he observed a severely damaged vehicle off the roadway and a female occupant of that vehicle being attended to by medical personnel. With the assistance of officers' from the Lincoln City Police Department, the deputy located and made contact with the driver of the crashed vehicle, Richard Arthur Hilgardner Jr, 30 years old, of Otis, OR. When the deputy made contact with Hilgardner he noticed signs of impairment and initiated an investigation. Hilgardner was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. Hilgardner provided a breath sample revealing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16%, approximately 1 1/2 hours after the crash. Hilgardner was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on $45,000 bail.
