Incident: Attempt to Elude and Drug Arrests
Date Occurred: Sep 12, 2010
Time Occurred: Approximately 6:30 pm
Location: Highway 229 near MP 28 - Siletz

Summary:

On September 12, 2010 at about 6:30 PM, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Sorby attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black Honda Civic coupe on Highway 229 near MP 28, south of Siletz, Oregon for a speeding violation.

When Deputy Sorby turned to overtake and stop the car, it attempted to elude him by turning onto an overgrown logging road where it became stuck in the brush. Deputy Sorby detained the driver, Charelle Anne Posey, 22 of Lincoln City. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Kristopher D Bergey, 41, of Toledo.

During a search of the vehicle, several Morphine pills were found under the seat where Bergey had been sitting. Deputy Sorby learned that Bergey had purchased the pills in Toledo just prior the stop. Bergey was subsequently taken into custody for Unlawful Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance. The driver, Posey, was also taken into custody for Felony Attempt to Elude.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Bergey had purchased the Morphine pills from a female, later identified as Sarah Lynn Reid, 30, of Toledo. Deputy Sorby located and took Reid into custody for Unlawful Delivery of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Posey and Bergey were lodged at the Lincoln County Jail where their bail was set at $50,000.00. Reid was also lodged at the Lincoln County Jail where her bail was set at $100,000.00.
