Summary:

On Friday August 27, 2010 Corrections Deputy Matt Moore graduated from the Basic Corrections Academy in Salem, Oregon. The Corrections academy entails 200 hours of intense training. Some of the topics covered within the 200 hours are Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Report Writing and Communication Skills.

Deputy Matt Moore was the recipient of the Victor G Atiyeh Award. This award is presented in each basic training class to the student who display’s exceptional professionalism and ethics, as well as a positive attitude throughout basic training. The student selected is evaluated on demonstrated leadership, teamwork, the willingness and ability to shoulder responsibility, academic standing, performance in survival skills, and overall health and fitness. This is the highest honor that a student can receive from DPSST.
