Incident: Possession of Methamphetamine

Location: Hwy 101 near Lois Lane, Yachats

Summary:

On August 16, 2010 at about 11:55 AM, Deputy David Hawley with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to a traffic collision located on Highway 101 near NW Lois Lane in Yachats. An investigation revealed the driver, Craig M. Snyder, 32 years of age, from Albany, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Snyder was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Deputy Hawley contacted the passenger, Aleesha M. Wells, 27 years of age, from Albany. A consent search of Wells' purse revealed she was in possession of methamphetamine. Four minor children were in the vehicle when the traffic crash occurred.

Snyder was taken into custody for the warrant, possession of methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a minor. Snyder was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail with his bail set at $77,500. Wells was cited in lieu of custody at the scene and the children were released to relatives that arrived at the location.
