Summary:
On May 22, 2010 at approximately 6:00pm, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a welfare check in the Beaver Court area of Lincoln Beach. Deputies arrived at the location and contacted several subjects, who advised there were no problems at the residence. A deputy was later contacted by one of the subjects, who reported ongoing occurences of domestic violence.
An investigation revealed the suspect coerced the victims into not speaking to the responding deputies. Deputies later arrived back at the residence to take the suspect, 25 year-old Arizona resident Matthew Jacob Yarber, into custody. While deputies were approaching the location, Yarber fled on foot. Yarber was located a short time later by an Oregon State Police trooper who was assisting in the investigation.
The arresting deputy lodged Yarber at the Lincoln County Jail on charges of Coercion, Domestic Assault IV, and Strangulation. His bail was set at $145,000.
