Summary:

On 03/25/10 at approximately 2:30 PM the bodies of two Guatemalan male subjects were located deceased in their van at the above listed location. Family members at the scene identified the two subjects as 25 year old Laureano Calmo-Ramirez, and 17 year old Magdaleno Ramos. Both men are from the Corvallis area. These two had been reported missing/overdue to Lincoln County authorities back on March 17th by a friend of the family. At this time the subjects had already been missing since March 10th. These subjects were reported to be picking minor forest products possibly in the area off of Hwy 101 between Waldport and Cape Perpetua. Their vehicle was reported to be a green one ton van. On March 18th this area was searched by Law Enforcement from Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and US Forest Service without results.

On March 25th the van was located by USFS Law Enforcement and members of the family. Both subjects were deceased. Preliminary investigation indicates the subjects succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning as the result of using a barbecue to heat the inside of the van. Lincoln County Detective, Deputy DA, and an Investigator from the DA's Office were at the scene. The two subjects were removed and are now in the custody of the Medical Examiner.
