On February 24, 2010, Deputy Steve Frey and inmate Brandon Boyanovsky traveled from the Lincoln County Jail to the Newport High School to present a “Day in the Life” program. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with the Newport High School for a candid real life look at both the benefit and consequences of choices and decision making.
The presentations were conducted in an open forum style environment to promote questions and give the opportunity for students to observe, listen and learn. The open forum provided a positive atmosphere for both the inmate and student to communicate and share some of their experiences and any negative impact past association with drugs or alcohol has had on his/her life.
The topics discussed were primarily focused on drug awareness, the judicial system and the negative physical, social and emotional impact of drug abuse and addiction.
