Summary:
On January 30, 2010, Deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an assault in the 3800 block of South Coast Highway in South Beach. The victim, a 19 year old male, was transported to PCH for injuries to his head and face.
An investigation revealed the man was assaulted by his roommates, Rufino Lopez Ramirez, 34, of Newport and Victor Valencia Villeda, 34, of Newport, while at there residence. Deputies determined the two men attacked him in the kitchen of their residence and forced him into a bedroom where they continued the assault.
Ramirez and Villeda were both arrested for ASSAULT III and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail with a $50,000 bail. The US Immigration and Customs Enforcment agency (I.C.E.) also placed a no-bail detainer on both men after they were lodged at the jail.
Newport Police Officers assisted with the investigation.
