On January 27, 2010 at about 2:00 PM, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies with the assistance of the Newport Police Department, Toledo Police Department, Lincoln County Parole and Probation and Lincoln County Interagency Narcotic Team executed two search warrants in connection with several recent burglaries.
The first search warrant was served at a home located in the 300 block of NW 56th Street in Newport. One of the suspects, Stephanie S Melton, 25, of Newport along with another male, Christopher P Trout, 23, of Newport were leaving the residence as deputies and officers arrived. Both subjects were detained.
During the execution of the warrant Jared Dunmire, 22, of Newport was located inside the residence. It was later learned he attempted to destroy drug evidence by placing it in the toilet. Dunmire had a felony warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody.
Deputies and officers located Jeffery M Frazier, 22, of Newport hiding in the residence. Frazier had a felony warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody.
A search was conducted in Melton's residence and several items that had been reported stolen from the burglaries were located. In addition, drug related items including packaging material and scales were found.
Once the Newport residence was secure, deputies, with the assistance of the Toledo Police Department responded to a home located in the 400 block of W Buford Street in Siletz to execute the second search warrant. Deputies and officers recovered a large quantity of stolen property from local burglaries and more drug related items at the home.
As a result of both search warrants, close to ten thousand dollars worth of stolen property was recovered. Deputies learned that Jamie M Uhrich, 19, of Toledo was also present, and had assisted when the burglaries took place. Toledo Police Department located Uhrich and she was later taken into custody.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the burglaries and more arrests are expected.
Melton was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where she was lodged and charged with Aggravated Theft I and Burglary I. Melton’s bail was set at $250,000.00.
Uhrich was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where she was lodged and charged with Theft I and Burglary I. Uhrich’s bail was set at $250,000.00.
Frazier was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged on the Felony no bail warrant.
Dunmire was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged and charged with Tampering with Evidence and a Felony no bail warrant.
Trout was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged on a Probation Violation.
