On 10-14-09, LCSO DEP HUGHES responded to a residence on Oceanview St with medical and fire units on a reported drug over dose. Grace Marion BETTS, 91 yoa, had reported that a friend was at her house and had taken too many pills and she couldn't wake him. The friend, Kelly Jay NORRIS, 41 yoa, was found passed out on the floor of BETTS' home. Medical personnel woke NORRIS and examined him and determined that he should be transported to the hospital for treatment. BETTS reported that she thought that NORRIS may have stolen her wallet sometime before he passed out. DEP HUGHES interviewed NORRIS at the scene, but he denied taking BETTS' wallet. NORRIS allowed DEP HUGHES to search his clothing and an amount of coins, as well as a pill bottle containing unknown types of pills were found. Subsequent investigation revealed that the coins were old collectable ones that had been stolen from BETTS' deceased husband's dresser. DEP HUGHES also discovered that NORRIS had trespassed onto a rental property on Cavalier Ave and used the jacuzzi tub early in the morning of 10-14-09. NORRIS didn't have the permission of the renters, or the property management company. NORRIS was checked into the North Lincoln Hospital ER for treatment for drug intoxication and cited to appear for Theft III and Criminal Trespass II.
