Summary:

On 10-07-09, LCSO DEP HUGHES along with LCPD DET LANE and OFC BISHOP assisted DHS Case Worker Kelly MILLER in performing a welfare check on a three year old girl at a residence on G Ave. The child was reported to be living with her mother, Alisha CRIPPEN, 23 yoa and George NELSON, 35. NELSON was reported to be armed and had a valid arrest warrant out of Deschutes County. The home owner, Thomas BURRELL and CRIPPEN both claimed that NELSON wasn't at the location, but gave DEP HUGHES and the Lincoln City Officers consent to check the house for him. While checking the house, DEP HUGHES and OFC BISHOP located an active marijuana growing operation in an unlocked bedroom. DEP HUGHES and OFC BISHOP also found NELSON hiding in a bathroom and arrested him on the warrant. LCPD DET LANE assisted DEP HUGHES in seizing the growing operation which contained a total of 30 growing plants and 22 starts. The child appeared to be in good health and was left in the custody of her mother. Further charges against CRIPPEN, BURRELL and NELSON are being considered by the Lincoln County DA's office at this time.
