On August 30, 2009, the Lincoln County 911 Emergency Dispatch Center (Lincom) received multiple 911 calls from the payphone outside of the Holiday Market in Yachats, Oregon from a female stating she needed a ride to Newport due to an "emergency". Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the location and contacted Bertina Louise Gnirs, 50, of Yachats. Gnirs told the Deputies she had been calling 911 and requested a ride to Waldport.
After it was determined there was no emergency, Gnirs was arrested for IMPROPER USE OF 911 and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail with a bail of $15,000.
