On August 1, 2009 at about 8:50pm, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy David Hawley responded to a disturbance near the 6000 block of Siletz Highway, south of Lincoln City. The complainant reported a male subject menaced several family members with a knife at the location. When Deputy Hawley arrived on scene he was notified that the male subject ran on foot and was hiding down in the brush near the residence.
Members from the Oregon State Police and the Toledo Police Department responded to assist in searching for the suspect. After a brief search of the surrounding area, 26 year old Herivaldo Maldonado of Beaverton, Oregon was located and taken into custody without incident.
Deputy Hawley placed Maldonado under arrest for Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Disorderly Conduct II. Maldonado was booked and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail where he was held on a $270,000 bail.
