SHERIFF’S OFFICE ANNOUNCES NEW ONLINE REPORT FORM

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is now offering an online report form for citizens to file police reports via the website with Sheriff’s Deputies. The concept was designed based on feedback from our citizens. We received the suggestion at one of our community meetings indicating that citizens wanted the opportunity to file police reports more conveniently.

Citizens may now use the online report form to report incidents that do not require direct contact with a deputy. The online report system can be used to report the following incidents:

  • Theft - Your property is taken without your permission.
  • Criminal Mischief- Vandalism, your property is damaged without your permission.
  • Identity Theft - Obtaining someone's personal identifying information; using it to obtain credit, goods or services.
  • Animal Nuisance - To report a barking dog or dog at large.
  • Harassing phone calls - Unwanted phone calls of an annoying, harassing or threatening nature.
  • Lost property - When your property is missing or lost.
  • Theft from vehicle - Property is stolen from your vehicle or your vehicle is entered unlawfully.
  • Abandon Vehicle - To report a vehicle that you believe is abandoned.
  • Dumping complaint - To report trash or other debris dumped illegally.
  • Suspicious activity - To report a suspicious type activity, person, or vehicle.

In order to provide the best possible service and ensure incidents that do require immediate attention by deputies are reported by telephone to our dispatch, the following criteria must be followed in order to submit your report online:

  • This incident is not an emergency. If this is an emergency, call 911.
  • This incident occurred within Lincoln County, but outside of the cities of Newport, Lincoln City, Toledo, and Siletz.
  • There are no known suspects related to the incident. A known suspect is when you or someone else knows the person or where to find the person who committed the crime or when you have the license plate number of the vehicle the suspect(s) were in.

All reports submitted online will be reviewed by a deputy. The online system will allow you a convenient way to report the incident without having to wait for deputy contact either in person or by telephone.
