On June 4, 2009 at approximately 8:40am, Joseph Anthony Geampa, age 45 from South Beach, Oregon, escaped from court ordered custody after receiving a 45 day jail sentence from the Lincoln County Circuit Court for violating the conditions of his probation on a Driving under the influence of intoxicants conviction. After receiving his sentence, Mr. Geampa fled the courtroom prior to being escorted to the jail to serve his jail time.
On June 27, 2009 Deputy Sites, from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, contacted Mr. Geampa during a traffic stop and placed him under arrest for an outstanding warrant on an unrelated case out of Polk County. Mr. Geampa was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on the warrant. Sr. Deputy Cummings later contacted Mr. Geampa at the jail and placed him under arrest for Escape II for the Lincoln County Circuit Court incident. Mr. Geampa was lodged in the jail on the new charge and his bail was set at $50,000.
