Summary:

On Tuesday March 17, 2009 at approximately 7:00PM, David Eason, the father of a missing Corvallis man, located his son's vehicle at Knight Park off of Three Rocks Road north of Lincoln City, Oregon. The missing person, 21 year-old Alexander Eason of Corvallis, Oregon was reported missing on March16 from the Corvallis area. The family was familiar with the Knight Park area and had hiked the trail systems in the past. Mr. Eason had taken off on the trail head and hiked up near the top until darkness set in at which time Mr. Eason called for assistance from his cell phone. Volunteers from Lincoln County Sheriff's Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to the area and assisted Mr. Eason off the trail back to Knight Park. A Sheriff's SAR member remained at the park with Alex Eason's vehicle until the search teams returned the next morning.

On Wednesday March 18 at approximately 7:00AM, Deputy Bruce McGuire coordinated the search with SAR members from both Lincoln and Tillamook County Sheriff's Search and Rescue. At approximately 11:00AM a search team from Lincoln County Sheriff's SAR located Alex Eason. Eason had been up on the mountain since approximately 5:00PM Monday March 16th. Eason was in need of medical attention. A helocopter from the Coast Guard was dispatched to the area and air lifted Eason to North Lincoln Hosptial in Lincoln City. Eason was later transported to Corvallis Good Sam Hospital.

Alex Eason is reported to be doing fine and the family members wanted to express their sincere thanks to all the search members for finding Alex. "We are very proud of our volunteers and deputies who serve on the Lincoln County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team," stated Sheriff Dennis Dotson. "They provide a very valuable service to the citizens and visitors of Lincoln County," stated Dotson.
