Summary:
On January 17, 2009, at 12:07 PM, Mrs. Marcy Herndon of Corvallis reported to LinCom Dispatch Center that her husband, Bobby Dale Herndon, 75 years of age, walked away from his room at the Worldmark Resort at about 9:30 AM and had not been seen since. Mrs. Herndon told authorities her husband becomes disoriented easily. Deputy David Boys of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to the Worldmark along with the Depoe Bay Fire & Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard. A search of the area was conducted. The U.S. Coast Guard dispatched a helicopter to assist and at approximately 2:20 PM from the air they observed a subject in Depoe Bay matching Mr. Herndon's description. Depoe Bay Fire & Rescue personnel responded and located Mr. Herndon in good condition. Mr. Herndon was transported back to the Worldmark Resort and reunited with his wife. The Sheriff's Office would like to thank all those who contributed to the successful outcome of this incident.
