Summary:
On January 21st at approximately 7:30 pm, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy Cliff Sites observed an oncoming grey Mazda pick-up traveling north at 72 mph in a 45 mph zone in Seal Rock. As Deputy Sites turned and attempted to catch up with the vehicle, the driver accelerated to approximately 80 mph as he approached the curves near Ona Beach. Before Deputy Sites activated his emergency lights the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed on the east side of the highway destroying a traffic sign.
When Deputy Sites contacted the driver, Ricky Lambert, age 52 of Roseburg, he advised he was "drunk" and that he knew he should not have been driving.
Deputy Sites arrested Lambert and transported him to the Lincoln County Jail where he provided a breath sample of 0.16 %BAC.
Lambert was lodged at the jail for DUII; RECKLESS DRIVING and CRIMINAL MISCHIEF II with a total bail of $45,000.
