Summary:
On 1-10-09, at about 7:30 PM, Deputy Sorby with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a black Mazda passenger car on Highway 20 at about MP 3 near Newport. Deputy Sorby observed the Mazda traveling 74 MPH in a posted 45 MPH zone. Deputy Sorby contacted the driver, Gregory D Towner, 52, of Siletz and discovered he was highly intoxicated. Towner submitted to field sobriety tests and failed. Towner was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia. Towner was taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. Towner refused to submit to a breath test and was lodged on DUII, Reckless Driving, and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Towner’s bail was set at $80,000.00.
