Summary:
On December 14, 2008 while on routine patrol on U.S. Hwy 101 in Gleneden Beach, Oregon Sr. Deputy Cummings observed a white four door vehicle, bearing Montana registration 41091V, traveling at 74 mph in a posted 55 mph speed zone. Sr. Deputy Cummings stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, identified as Ronald R. Thurston, age 43 from Lincoln City, Oregon. Sr. Deputy Cummings observed several signs of impairment and conducted a DUII Investigation. Thurston was arrested for DUII, Reckless Driving and Driving while Suspended (misdemeanor). Thurston was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he provided a breath sample. His BAC was measured at .10%. Thurston was lodged at the jail and his bail was set at $45,000.00
Thurston was issued a traffic citation for having an Open Container inside the vehicle, driving a vehicle with expired registration and for Violating the Basic Rule by traveling 74 mph in a 55 mph speed zone. Thurston's vehicle was also impounded.
