Summary:
On April 21, 2008 at about 1:50am, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy David Hawley was dispatched to a reported Assault at the Wing Wa Restaurant in Depoe Bay. Sergeant Ralph Turre with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to assist. Deputy Hawley contacted the adult male victim at a nearby apartment complex. The victim reported he was assaulted by Ronald J. West, 32 years of age from Depoe Bay, and that he sustained physical injury as a result of the altercation.
When Deputy Hawley and Sergeant Turre left the scene to locate the suspect they noticed a red van about to turn onto Evans Street. When the subjects in the van noticed the deputies, they took off heading south bound on Highway 101. Sergeant Turre conducted a traffic stop on the van near the south end of Depoe Bay. Ronald West was identified as a passenger in the vehicle. Deputy Hawley placed West under arrest for Assault IV and transported him to the Lincoln County Jail. West was lodged on a $7,500 bail.
