Lincoln County Jail |
Summary:
On Sunday, March 30, 2008 at the Lincoln County Jail, a potentially life saving maneuver was performed by one of our inmates. Deputy Mark Ross was serving lunch in Adam Pod, when suddenly inmate John Werline, age 49 of Yachats began choking. Seated next to Mr. Werline was Inmate John Larsen, age 37 of Lincoln City. Mr. Larsen immediately recognized the situation, rose to his feet and performed the Heimlick maneuver, dislodging the food, thus allowing Mr. Werline to recover.
Adam Pod is the Lincoln County Jail's minimum security housing unit with capacity for 34 male inmates. These inmates are classified into this unit based on numerous different criteria. These inmates perform internal work details such as kitchen/food preparation, the operation of the facilities laundry, and specialized cleaning crews who assist all other pods. In addition, these individuals perform on outside work crews, to include projects at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter and other projects throughout Lincoln County.
