N. Highway 101, Depoe Bay, OR |
Summary:
On March 27, 2008 at about 3:30 PM, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy David Boys was dispatched to contact James Nordell of Oregon Shores Vacation Rentals regarding subjects that were trespassing at a vacation rental home past their "check-out" time of 11:00 AM. Nordell reported the subjects checked in approximately 5 days earlier. Deputies Boys and Deputy Hughes responded to the residence where the alleged trespass by a guest was occurring. The incident was investigated and the deputies learned that the persons at the residence were engaged in a long term rental agreement for months, instead of days as was reported. This made the tenancy of the home a "civil" landlord/tenant issue rather than a criminal one. On March 29, 2008, Deputy Boys cited and released James A. Nordell, 48 years old of Depoe Bay, and Nordell's employee Aren L. Bolles, 30 years old of Yachats, for Initiating a false report. During the investigation Bolles, who was the co-complainant, presented falsified rental documents.
