Summary:

On March 21, 2008 at approximately 7:00pm, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies Eric Sorby and Colin Teem were dispatched to the 1900 block of Caravel St. in Waldport, OR for a Domestic Disturbance.

Deputy Sorby arrived on scene and spoke to 51 year old Susan Valorie Coffey of Waldport, Oregon. Coffey was intoxicated and reportedly jumped out of a moving vehicle during an argument with her husband. While Deputy Sorby spoke to Coffey she became highly agitated and swung a backpack at Deputy Sorby striking him in the face. Deputy Teem deployed an Electronic Immobilization Device (Taser) and Coffey was taken into custody without further incident. Deputy Sorby sustained minor injury, however, no medical attention was needed.

Coffey was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where she was lodged on one count each of Assaulting a Public Safety Officer, Resisting Arrest, Interfering with a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct and Reckless Endangering. Coffey’s bail was set at $53,500.00.
