Summary:
On March 1, 2008 at approximately 11:00 PM Lincoln County Sheriff's Corrections Deputies received information from a confidential informant that marijuana had been smuggled into the jail. On March 2, 2008 an investigation was conducted. Inmate Joshua Ralph Norton age 21 of Newport, was found in possession of marijuana and a lighter. Both items are prohibited within the Lincoln County Jail and are considered a breach of jail security. Norton was lodged on 2 counts of Supplying Contraband. Total bail is set at $50,000.
In addition to the new charges of Supplying Contraband, Norton is serving jail time for two probation violations.
