Summary:

On March 1, 2008, at 4:00 PM, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy David Boys was dispatched to a traffic crash in the 400 block of Williams Ave., Depoe Bay. A minivan struck a utility pole on Williams Ave. resulting in a loss of power for several area residences. Witnesses reported the driver went to the nearby Union 76 Station and appeared intoxicated. Deputy Boys arrived on scene and identified the driver as John A. Bender, 31 years of Depoe Bay. The deputy conducted a driving under the influence of intoxicants investigation and arrested Bender. Bender was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he took the breath test with a .13% BAC result. Bender was lodged for DUII and Driving while suspended misdemeanor, his bail was set at $15,000.
