Summary:
On February 13, 2008 at approximately 7:35 pm, a female dialed 911 to report her husband had just been assaulted by their 27 year old grandson. The same female also reported that her granddaughter had taken the phone away from her and hid it when she first tried to dial 911.
A deputy with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene and discovered a 61 year old male with severe facial injuries received during the assault. The deputy was told that the suspect, 27 year old Christopher Dane Shropshire of Neotsu, OR, was actually not their grandson, but the boyfriend of their granddaughter, both of whom lived with them. The deputy further learned that the grandaughter, 26 year old Elizabeth Anne Regnier, of Neotsu, OR, had driven Shropshire away from the crime scene before police could arrive. Regnier's two young children were in the residence at time of the assault, but not taken by the suspects when they fled.
The victim was taken to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital for his injuries, then referred to OHSU in Portland, OR, the following day for corrective eye surgery.
On February 14, 2008, the same deputy made contact with Elizabeth Regnier and issued her citations for Hindering Prosecution, bail $25,000.00, and Interference with Making a Report (911), bail $7,500.00. Christopher Shropshire is still at large for the crime of Assault II. The investigation is continuing.
