Summary:
On February 16, 2008, at approximately 11:45 AM, Oregon State Police Trooper Smith and Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Deputy Boys conducted a traffic stop on N. Bear Creek Road near Mile Post 1. The stop was for "Fail to wear a safety belt" as there were passengers riding in the open bed of a pickup. Deputy Boys contacted an adult male who was not wearing his safety belt in the back of the pickup and identified him as Harold Dean Waits, 40 years of age from Eagle Point, OR. Deputy Boys conducted a warrants check of Waits and learned he had two outstanding warrants. Waits was taken into custody without incident. Trooper Smith issued citations for Fail to wear safety belt. Waits was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and lodged on a Lincoln County Warrant for Probation Violation, bail of $5000, and for an Eagle Point warrant for Fail to pay fine, bail of $1670.
