Incident: Unlawful Water Pollution In The Second Degree

Location: Pasture to the East of Highway 229 in area of MP 31, Toledo, Oregon

Summary:

Between 12-6-2007 and 12-8-2007 Lincoln County Sheriff's Forest Deputy Gary Davey issued criminal citations to property owner Timothy Griswold 47 as well as Leah White 38 and John Nason 50, all from the Newport area for "Unlawful Water Pollution In The Second Degree". Griswold, the property owner, allowed White and Nason to live on his undeveloped property on Highway 229 in the area of milepost 31. When vacating the property Griswold, White and Nason left loose and bagged trash, furniture, vehicles and other items on the property. During the recent rains the property flooded and fluids from the vehicles and trash were found floating on the surface of the water. Additiontally, multiple vehicles and a trailer were left partially summerged under water causing an enviromental hazard to the Depot Slough.
