Summary:
On 11/11/07 at 4:32 PM South County Surf, Water Rescue were dispatched to a boat adrift in the Alsea Bay drifting towards the bridge with two subjects in the boat. With in minutes an updated report advised there was a male and female in the boat and appeared to be arguing. The boat was subsequently assisted by another boater and taken to the docks. Moments later Assistant Fire Chief called to report the operater of the boat appeared intoxicated and requested a Deputy respond.
At 5:18 Sgt. Bob Jozwiak arrived on scene. Sgt. Jozwiak made contact with the boat operator, 55 year old Roger T. Clausel of Waldport, Oregon. Clausel was visibly impaired and was subsequently arrested for boating under the influence. Clausel was transported to the jail where he voluntarily submitted to a breath test. Clausel's Blood Alcohol registered at .27. Clausel was cited and released.
