Summary:
On 11-03-07, at about 8:48 PM, Deputy Sorby stopped Byron Keiser, 50, of Siletz, for not having a bike light and running a stop sign while riding his bicycle. During the stop Deputy Sorby could smell a strong odor of Marijuana and questioned Keiser about it. Deputy Sorby later located a large paper bag in Keiser’s backpack containing 3.4 ounces of Marijuana. At the time Deputy Sorby did not know how much Marijuana was in the bag so he released Keiser and took the Marijuana to the Sheriff’s Office to be weighed.
Shortly after the contact with Keiser, David Briley, 54, of Siletz, called to report that Keiser assaulted him. Deputy Sorby learned Briley had given Keiser the Marijuana and Keiser thought that Briley had told the Sheriff’s Office he had it to get him in trouble.
Keiser was later located and taken into custody for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail. Keiser’s bail is set at 50,000.00.
Briley was arrested and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on charges of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Delivery of Marijuana, and Unlawful Delivery of Marijuana with in 1,000 feet of a School. Briley's bail was set at $200,000.00.
