Summary:
On Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at approximately 2:35 PM Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies Brian Cameron and Derek Etheridge were dispatched to a report of a money scam at the Salmon River Market in Otis, Oregon. The market clerk reported that an individual had purchased a small item and paid with a large bill. The suspect requested change in different denominations than the clerk had presented. The suspect continued to ask for different denominations of bills as the clerk produced the change requests. The suspect obtained and left the Salmon River Market with an additional fifty dollars not owed to him.
The clerk contacted dispatch and gave a description of the suspect's vehicle, which was relayed to both the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Lincoln City Police Department. The vehicle was located and stopped by the Lincoln City Police Department. Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies were notified and contacted the occupants at the scene.
The suspect, 44 year old Wayne Wright of Portland, Oregon, was arrested for Theft in the Second Degree. Wright was issued a criminal citation and released at the scene.
