Summary:
On September 5th, 2007 Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy Bruster attempted to stop a white 1991 Mazda Protege sedan traveling south on U.S. Hwy 101 near mile post 157 for Failure to Maintain Lane of Travel. The Protégé, being driven by Pete D. Daniels, age 28 of Toledo, failed to yield and a high speed pursuit was initiated with speeds reaching over 110 mph. Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy Cummings staged in Yachats, near the Adobe Resort and deployed a set of Spike Strips. The tires on the Mazda Protege were deflated and Mr. Daniels was taken into custody without incident.
Mr. Daniels was arrested for Felony Attempt to Elude Police and Reckless Driving with a posted bail of $32,500. In addition, Mr. Daniels had an outstanding No Bail, Felony warrant for Parole Violation. Mr. Daniels was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail. Mr. Daniels also received several traffic citations for Driving While Suspended (Violation), Careless Driving and Speeding. The vehicle he was driving was impounded.
