Summary:
On August 12th, 2007 at about 10:29am, two motorhomes pulling enclosed trailers from Washington were involved in a traffic crash in Seal Rock, Oregon. The crash occurred when a local resident was turning from Hwy 101, onto Art Street in Seal Rock to go to the post office.
The first motorhome driven by Douglas E. Shaffer, 38 of Monroe Washington did not notice the turning vehicle and stopped suddenly in the roadway without striking the turning vehicle. The second motorhome driven by Shaffer's friend, Jason M. Steffy, 32 of Snohomish, Washington was not able to stop in time and tried to swerve to the right to avoid the other motorhome and trailer, but struck the right rear of Shaffer's trailer, and ended up in the ditch.
Shaffer's trailer sustained minor damage to the right rear, and Steffy's motorhome sustained heavy damage to the right front and had to be towed from the ditch. Both drivers were traveling with their wives and minor children, but no one was injured in the crash.
