Summary:
Sheriff Dotson is pleased to announce that your Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office – Jail Division has been awarded a $35,134 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice designed to help offset the cost of incarcerating criminal aliens who have been convicted of felony or misdemeanor crimes.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was one of 26 counties in Oregon to receive this grant.
Applicants were required to submit detailed data indicating the number of criminal aliens housed in their facilities and the applicable costs. During 2006, your Lincoln County Jail housed approximately 73 criminal aliens from several different countries.
The award monies may be used for any Law Enforcement purpose. Lincoln County monies received will be returned to the General Fund to help offset some of the costs associated with housing these offenders.
