Sheriff Meets With Makai Homeowners
Sheriff Dotson spoke to members of the Makai Homeowners Association in Seal Rock Monday evening, May 21, as an invited guest. Approximately 35 people attended the annual meeting to catch up on neighborhood news, the association’s business plan, and discuss projects of interest.
The Sheriff’s Office Community video was viewed by the group and well received from the applause and comments offered. Sheriff Dotson, who was accompanied by Lt. Curtis Landers, spoke about the Sheriff’s Office efforts in crime prevention. Several examples were offered of crime prevention education provided by the Sheriff’s Office such as the “Tip of the Week”, one weekly radio talk-show, and a monthly talk-show as well. Deputies also visit schools to interact with students and engage in a variety of public safety projects.
The homeowners were commended for the success of their neighborhood watch program over the years. A number of questions were asked which included what were the crime statistics for their area, when to dial 911, dog nuisance issues, and speeding cars.
Homeowner Associations and neighborhood groups are encouraged to invite the Sheriff’s Office to attend a regularly scheduled meeting or a special meeting if so desired. “There is a great deal of public safety information and opportunities for our citizens to learn more about their Sheriff’s Office”, said Sheriff Dotson.
