Summary:
On May 13, 2007 at 10:44 pm, Lincoln County dispatch (LinCom) received a 911call from a complainant who said there was a male subject taking parts off his pickup camper. The caller confronted the suspect and a dispute ensued. Newport officers' responded to 4354 S Coast Hwy and made contact with both subjects until a Lincoln County Sheriff's deputy arrived. The deputy concluded from his investigation, that 43 year old Thomas Blair Nelson of Newport, had attempted to steal the hydraulic jacks off the vicitms camper and in doing so, slightly damaged the victims camper. Nelson was arrested at the scene for the crimes of Attempt to Commit a Crime-Theft II, and Criminal Mischief III. Nelson was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged on $7,500.00 bail.
