Incident: Injury Traffic Crash
Date Occurred: April 23, 2007
Time Occurred: Approximately 4:00 PM
Location: Drift Creek Rd., Milepost 4 Lincoln City, OR

Summary:

On 04-23-07 at approximately 4:00 PM, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, North Lincoln Fire and Pacific West Ambulance responded to a one vehicle traffic collision with injuries near milepost four on Drift Creek Rd.

Deputy Teem conducted a traffic crash investigation and learned a 1997 standard cab Ford Ranger driven by a juvenile male was traveling south on Drift Creek Rd. at an unknown speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle, crashed into an embankment causing the vehicle to roll over. The driver along with another juvenile male self extricated from the cab of the vehicle with minor injuries. Two male juveniles who were riding in the bed of the pickup were ejected and sustained serious injuries, resulting in them being transported by Life Flight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital.

A request was made for the Lincoln County Inter Agency Crash Team to be activated. Members from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Newport Police Department, Lincoln City Police Department and Oregon State Police responded to the crash scene to assist in the crash investigation.

Alcohol or drugs is NOT suspected as a result of the traffic crash. At the time of this media release both juveniles are in the Intensive Care Unit at Legacy Emanuel Hospital listed in serious condition. The investigation of the traffic crash is ongoing.
